4 days acting intensive program
Designed for those who have completed my three-week training program, finished my foundational workshop and gained additional experience elsewhere, or for all actors with extensive pre-acting background or professional experience.
The program combines continuous acting training with opportunities to develop original work, creating a supportive environment for performing self-written or pre-developed scenes alongside fellow actors.
What can you expect?
- Movement and Sense Work: We’ll begin with exercises that incorporate movement and sensory awareness. This includes various physical transformation techniques, such as animal work, Laban movement, and other methods to deepen your physical expressiveness.
- Performance Skills and Scene Development: Through targeted acting exercises and training, you’ll refine your performance abilities and generate ideas for scenes and scripts. By integrating emotional and sensory preparation, you’ll explore characters’ conflicts, needs, longings, and struggles—drawing from your experiences to deepen your understanding of character arcs and human connection.
- Theoretical Insights and Workshop Discussions: Engage in discussions on script analysis, including guidelines for reading and interpreting scenes. Learn to identify beats and actions, understand how themes influence each scene, and explore creative decisions related to titles and structure.
- Scene Work and Character Exploration: Practice with dramatic scenes, monologues from renowned writers, or develop your own scenes. You’ll have opportunities to perform, collaborate with others, or step into your written material and character’s shoes to understand their interactions and emotional landscape. I will also include 10-15 character exploration exercises that I learned while working closely with Susan Batson and Dee Cannon and a few Stella Adler teachers.
“CHOOSE. Work with powerful conviction. Be wrong, but strong. Neutrality is death….. Desperate objectives. Powerful Actions.” – Jerome Rockwood
„Wanted to write my review on the four days acting intensive level 2 with Matthias Schott. This days was amazingly productive we touched so many topics and had opportunities to work on it in practice. The atmosphere is very kind and letting you to loose up all your limits and just deep in the new directions. I am very grateful for the experience and already looking forward to book something new. Thank you!“ – Marina (Actress/Model)
“I saw some really strong scene work and character exploration. The skill levels were mixed, especially with advanced beginners like me in the group, but what surprised me was how often a scene would shift from just ‘okay’ to suddenly intimate and real. Honestly, some of those scenes felt more alive than what I’ve seen from professional actors – not because they were technically perfect, but because the actors seemed more open to the imaginative process and were private with each other like really talking. / What stood out to me was the focus on imaginative work that still felt deeply personal. In other classes I’ve taken, everything was about substitutions and digging up my own past traumas. Here, it was different. The scene partners really connected with each other, they meant what they said, and the work felt rooted in sensory details and the imaginary world – not just big emotional displays. / I might be too new to judge this, even though I’ve seen a few things in other workshops. Two coaches, who are followers of a well-known method acting coach, have requested that I use substitution for my audition monologues. For a long time, my audition monologues really got to me in a bad way Joy was gone! The drama school’s feedback was always similar “you’re emoting“ and “too much in your head“. I now study in the UK! it was a really important moment for me to meet Matthias, because it made me see there’s a different way of working.” – Jules (Drama Student)
„Acting Program Part II 5-day intensive: Matthias creates a supportive atmosphere where actors at every level can play, explore, and go deeper in their work. He’s a patient and highly knowledgeable teacher who gives thoughtful, precise feedback tailored to each participant. This is my third workshop with him, and I always leave feeling energised, challenged, and inspired.““ – Majella (Actress)

“Giving is only half your job. If you focus only on what you are giving out, you are losing all that your partner is giving that you should be responding to.” – Jerome Rockwood

“Matthias is a phenomenal acting coach. I always come back to his teachings, whether it be preparing for theatre or film. Matthias has an engaging, attentive and intuitive teaching style that nurtures each student’s journey. He identifies potential blocks and offers the tools to work through them in order to understand where you need to go to reach a level of higher awareness and understanding as an actor. He breaks down the multifaceted process through a vast variety of exercises which makes the task at hand tangible and approachable, no matter where you are in your acting journey. Matthias’ workshops make up both individual and group exercises that shape and form each student and attune to each individual level. Matthias has guided me from a fundamental level to individual scene- and character work or auditions for schools and jobs. There is a wisdom and deep sense of humanity in the way he approaches each character or scene, teaching us to challenge our understanding of the human experience, be conscious and present in our acting choices, never judge our experience or understanding of the character, but be curious, free and creative.” – Nina Mariko Sandquist (Gangs of Oslo – Blodsbrødre)
“I recently took part in Acting Foundation II Course with Matthias, and can’t recommend it enough. We had such an amazing, productive and fun week full of scene work, character development, improvisation, acting exercises and deep inner work. Working on different scenes with Matthias was always such an interesting combination of fun and hard work. His guidance, feedback and questioning helped us to look for some other interesting sides of character’s feelings, attitude and behaviour. He is always supportive, encouraging and motivating to try new, fresh ideas in order to make the performance more complex, easy or emotional. This was not my first workshop and definitely not the last one at Schott Acting Studio! Definitely recommend to take Acting Foundation Courses with Matthias and other workshops with international teachers!” – A.Akopian (September Foundation II – Extension 2024)
„I can’t say enough good things about Matthias Schott! His passion for acting and teaching is contagious. Every class is an incredible experience, packed with valuable insights and creative exercises that push you out of your comfort zone in the best way possible. Matthias knows exactly how to guide you towards improving your craft while boosting your confidence. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced actor, he meets you where you are and helps you grow. His feedback is always constructive and supportive, and he creates a safe, encouraging space to experiment and take risks. You’ll leave his classes feeling more confident, skilled, and inspired to pursue acting. Truly one of the best teachers I’ve ever had!” – Caya (September Foundation II – Extension 2024)
„It was a wonderful experience to have this workshop with Matthias. I found an opportunity to act in a safe and accepting space. I improved my skills and had a lot of fun. We did a lot of useful exercises, which help to find a contact between acting partners, improve our imagination and physicality, find out a creativity and joy. Matthias also shared an information about a career strategy, which is very useful and helpful! Definitely reccommend 🙂” – Sofiia Natalchuk (Foundation Intensive – September 2024)
“I took Matthias workshop as a beginner. It was one of my first acting experiences. Although I had a hard time opening up in the beginning, his sensitive individual care helped me overcome my fears and blockages. By the end of the week, not only did I perform like I had never imagined I could but also learned a lot about myself and my abilities and strengths. I would recommend Matthias‘ workshops to anyone who wants to improve their acting by taking a deep look into their soul and grow out of self-reflection. I will definitely continue to take part in Matthias‘ courses. He is a very inspiring and wonderful human being.” – Rebecca Veil
„Matthias Schott is a gifted and spirited artist, and an effective curator / organizer of events, serving actors and directors all over the world. He has fused his talent for creating workshops, intensives and „happenings“ of all kinds, with his own experience as an instructor, and his cultivated, keen judgement and good taste. His endless curiosity and love of his art form, his city of Berlin and his fellow actors, seem to fuel his ability to selflessly give a great deal, year in and year out. – I wholeheartedly recommend working through his studio.“ – Seamus McNally–Director/Acting Coach, New York
